On December 20, 2020, AMA Superbike Champion, Josh Herrin, set out to do what has never been done: set the world’s record for the fastest motorcycle elbow drag. Combining sheer speed and graceful precision, an elbow drag occurs when a racer balances his bike around a tight turn. For this attempt at Buttonwillow Raceway Park (CA), the pressure was on Herrin to do one like the world has never seen - make the breathtaking move of holding his elbow down for 30 meters at the lightning speed of at least 161kph.

Guinness World Records® Title

 quote

I LIKE PROVING PEOPLE WRONG AND DOING WHAT PEOPLE SAY CAN'T BE DONE.

It Has To Be Perfect.

Everything has to be perfect. As Josh attempts the Guinness World Records® title, the road conditions play a major factor in whether or not it will even be possible. In this death-defying stunt even the smallest amount of dirt, or slightest movement could send him crashing into the pavement at 144 -161 KM/H (90-100MPH+) speeds. It’s a game of grit and milliseconds and Herrin is up for the challenge. But after 11 failed attempts, Josh just isn’t fast enough. His latest effort registering just 1.5KM/H shy of the record.

One. Last. Chance.

As the sun begins to set, Josh has only 5 minutes left to attempt the record. It’s now or never. Herrin mounts his bike, grips the throttle and takes off. Turning the corner, Josh revs into the red, leaning into the pavement and triggering the speed traps.

As he parks his bike, and removes his helmet, cheers boom in the background as the crew’s faint cries confirm the best. Clocking in at 162.4 KM/H (100.9MPH), Josh Herrin has finally etched his name into the Guinness World Records® for the World’s Fastest Motorcycle Elbow Drag.
